„Who is afraid of the Big, Bad Crisis?“

We are happy to invite you on May 12, 8 pm, in Bar Radio to the presentation of short films, which are the results of 7 days workshop with topic: „Who is afraid of the Big, Bad Crisis?“
The workshop results are a collective co-production that took place from 6th until 12th of May 2011 in Tirana. The workshop was attended by international selection of artists and filmmakers. The workshop facilitators were Effi and Amir.
The workshop in Tirana is part of a bigger project entitled „Who is afraid of the Big, Bad Crisis?“ that consists of 3 workshops. The first workshop took place in Skopje in April 2011, the second one took part in Tirana and the third will be held in June 2011 in Athens. The aim of the workshops is to bring young filmmakers from different European countries together and offer them the needed conditions to point out and work on the problem of the ‘crisis’ by developing short films. This topic is approached from the participants by different aspects: political, economical, personal, etc. After the presentation of the results of each workshop in the single cites, the outcome of the three workshops will be presented as part of the special program at the „Balkans Beyond Borders“ Film Festival in Athens, June 2011.
The workshop participants in Tirana are: Miha Mohorič, Ioanna Manoussaki-Adamopoulou, Igor Kalkov, Lucille Caballero, Berat Brestovci, Rudi Prifti, Nikolin Bujari, Donika Cino, Myra Stylianou, Ketrina Çollaku, Lulzim Hoxha.

Bio Effi and Amir:
Amir Borenstein (b. 1969, Haifa) and Effi Weiss (b.1971, Ramat-Gan)
started working and living together in 1998. Living in Brussels. They graduated in 1999 at the Bezazel Academy of Fine Arts in Jerusalem, and in 2002 continued with their education at the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam. They are active in video making and giving various video workshops to different target groups.

This project is organized from Tirana Art Lab – Centre for Contemporary Art in collaboration with Line I+M from Skopje and Balkans Beyond Borders from Athens.

The project is financially supported by the European Cultural Foundation.
